Dubai Chocolate Trend: Viral Chocolate Everyone Is Breaking

A Story that did not Went Viral
Before it flooded social media, Dubai Chocolate was rooted in Middle Eastern dessert culture, where pistachio, chocolate, and shredded pastry were already familiar comforts. The viral version is most closely linked to a Dubai based dessert boutique that combined pistachio cream with crispy kataifi inside a thick chocolate shell, then filmed the breaking moment.
The trend took off in early mid 2024 when short ASMR videos began circulating on TikTok and Instagram Reels. The sharp crack of the chocolate shell, followed by the slow reveal of the green pistachio filling, became instantly addictive to watch.
It was first embraced heavily in the Gulf region (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait), then rapidly adopted in Europe, the UK, the US, and South Asia, where home cooks started recreating it using moulds. The reason it spread so fast wasn’t taste alone it was texture, sound, and visual drama, perfectly suited for short‑form video culture.

Ingredients
- Dark or milk chocolate
- Pistachio cream or pistachio paste
- Kataifi pastry (shredded phyllo)
- Butter
- A pinch of salt
Method
- Toast the kataifi in butter until golden and crisp. Let it cool completely.
- Melt chocolate and coat moulds to form a thick shell. Chill briefly.
- Mix pistachio cream with cooled kataifi and a pinch of salt.
- Fill the chocolate shells generously.
- Seal with more melted chocolate.
- Chill until fully set.
The One Secret Tip
Let the kataifi cool fully before mixing.
Warm pastry softens the filling, and the crunch is what makes this chocolate unforgettable.
To Serve
Don’t cut it.
Don’t plate it.
Hold it in your hands and break it open; the sound is part of the experience.
It’s Your Turn
If you’ve watched that chocolate crack again and again…
