Garlic Butter Noodles Recipe | Quick & Easy Noodle Dish

Ingredients

(Serves a 2 + 3 family )

  • 500 g noodles
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 8-10 garlic cloves, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Pepper Crushed Add To Cart
  • Salt, for boiling noodles
  • 3-4 tbsp finely chopped spring onions or parsley

A Simple Global Comfort

Garlic butter noodles were never meant to be fancy.

They grew quietly in home kitchens wherever noodles were easy to find, butter was affordable, and garlic was trusted to do the heavy lifting. Across Europe, plain pasta was often finished simply with butter. Across Asia, garlic was already a foundation flavour. Over time, those two ideas met.

What we now call garlic butter noodles became popular because they made sense quick, filling, and deeply comforting. In modern cities, especially through Asian‑Western kitchens, the dish found new life as an everyday meal you could cook without thinking twice.

That’s why it travels so well.
No borders. No rules. Just flavour.

Method

1. Cook the noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Cook the noodles until just tender. Drain well and keep ready.

2. Start with butter

Place a wide pan over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt slowly — no rush.

3. Let the garlic speak

Add the sliced garlic. Cook gently until fragrant and lightly golden. This is where the soul of the dish forms.

4. Bring everything together

Add the cooked noodles to the pan. Toss carefully so every strand is coated in garlic butter.

5. Season, but don’t overpower

Add the soy sauce and black pepper. Toss over medium‑high heat for 1–2 minutes.

6. Finish fresh

Switch off the heat. Sprinkle spring onions or parsley. One final toss.

How to Serve

This dish stands well on its own.
But it also welcomes company:

  • A simple omelette
  • Light stir‑fried vegetables
  • Pan‑fried mushrooms or chicken

Nothing heavy. Nothing complicated.

Add a Sri Lankan Vibe (Optional)
Replace 1 tbsp butter with coconut oil
Add a few thinly sliced curry leaves at the garlic stage
Finish with a pinch of chilli flakes
The dish stays international, but the kitchen feels closer to home.
Different cultures. Same honest flavour.
